To safeguard the shared natural heritage, each nature park in Lower Austria has been assigned priority species. For the Ötscher-Tormäuer Nature Park, three spring snail species are worth mentioning: the spherical dwarf spring snail (Belgrandiella fuchsi), the Weyer and Loich dwarf round-mouth snail (Hauffenia kerschneri kerschneri and Hauffenia kerschneri loichiana). To record occurrences, potential spring snails habitats were mapped, and surveys were carried out in 2019 and 2021. No endemic species were found. Priority species were also not identified. However, a total of 24 gastropod taxa were identified, including the Inntal spring snail, classified as Critically Endagered according to the IUCN Red List.
