Alpine Convention Infopoints Exchange Meeting

Under the motto “People at the heart of sustainable change – shaping the future of the Alpine region together”, the Ötscher-Basis in Wienerbruck became an international hub for exchange, networking and cooperation on the future of the Alpine region from 10 to 13 May 2026.

The event centred on a four-day exchange meeting of the Alpine Convention’s Infopoints. The ten Infopoints across various Alpine countries are tasked with raising public awareness of the Alpine Convention’s content and objectives. They act as a vital link between political frameworks and the people in the regions.

A particular focus of the meeting was on personal exchange and networking among the representatives of the Infopoints. Together, they developed strategies to strengthen cooperation between the locations and further increase their impact. The event also marks the start of future regular exchange formats for the Alpine Convention’s Infopoints. This is intended to intensify international networking and communicate the content of the Alpine Convention even more effectively.

Status: Event in May 2026

Funding: LE, Erasmus+ Aim: Forschung & Entwicklung

Another key element of the exchange meeting was the Human Factor Training, which was carried out as part of an Interreg Alpine Space project. It explored why sustainable transformations often fail at the implementation stage and the role that people play as a crucial factor for success. Participants were provided with practical tools to help them better understand and actively shape change processes.

The event concluded on a festive note with a varied evening programme on 12 May, attended by numerous representatives from politics, the region and Alpine institutions. The evening programme centred on inspiring contributions addressing how the Alpine region can be shaped sustainably and what influence the Alpine Convention can have on this. The event thus highlighted the importance of cross-border cooperation in the Alpine region.
