Climate research at Ötscher – our measures
Experience research – discover the region
The Ötscher-Tormäuer climate research project transforms the Ötscher mountain and its surroundings into a vibrant research and education region where the effects of climate change on biodiversity, land use and social development are studied in a practical manner. It is an ‘open-air laboratory,’ not a single building, which is intended to serve as a flagship project in the Alpine region. The aim is to involve local actors – including schools, farmers and educational institutions – and to develop sustainable solutions for the Alpine settlement area with the help of meteorological measurements, interactive educational formats and a network of ‘research labs’ (e.g. in gardens, farms, businesses).
