The "Resilient Regional Development Based on Ecological, Economic, and Social Knowledge and Innovation in the Ötscher Region" (ROMI) project supports the sustainable regional development of the region. The municipalities in the Alpine Mostviertel region, surrounding the Ötscher, are jointly pursuing the goal of promoting sustainable, self-determined regional development. This includes resilience—the ability to cope with difficult situations without sustaining lasting damage and to achieve long-term adaptation toward stable conditions.
Particularly in a regional context, resilience is a decisive factor in meeting the numerous challenges posed by, for example, climate change, the influence of international markets or an aging rural population. This project will address these issues and explore attitudes and expectations towards regional development through a survey. Based on expert interviews, analyses of statistical data, on-site mapping and a detailed network analysis, the strengths and weaknesses of the region will be examined. This shows that the good cohesion in the region in particular offers opportunities for new solutions and initiatives. The nature park, which is supported by all municipalities, promotes regional cohesion and brings new impulses to the region. As part of the project, various development options for the region will be identified and discussed with regional stakeholders.
